Mentorship Program
Supporting the next generation of human rights advocates
Program Area:
Human Rights Education
Location:
Global
ICAAD’s Mentorship Program provides advice to students, youth, or anyone considering further education or a career related to human rights.
There are a vast range of educational and career pathways that relate to social justice, and navigating the different options can be difficult. We’re here to help.
With backgrounds across law, politics, data and technology, finance, social sciences, the arts and more, the ICAAD team is well-versed in the diverse ways in which individuals can engage with human rights work. We can also provide insight into the various tools and resources that exist to support advocates in their studies or careers.
How Does It Work?
ICAAD’s Mentorship Program provides individualized support to anyone interested in human rights. Once we find out a bit about your interests, you will be paired with a team member who most closely fits with your academic background and goals. A mentorship session is then conducted virtually.
Who Can Reach Out?
Anyone interested in a mentorship session can reach out to ICAAD to set up a meeting by emailing info@icaad.ngo or by filling out this form. For those under the age of 18, we ask for written consent by a parent/guardian via email for us to speak to the child without an adult present.
What Happens After the Session?
We pride ourselves on building and maintaining a vibrant community of human rights advocates. We encourage mentees to stay engaged with our work and to reach out if you need further assistance over the following months and years. Subsequent collaboration with ICAAD could include volunteer or internship opportunities, and we host routine events and trainings that you will be welcome to participate in.
ICAAD’s Mentorship Program was developed as part of our Human Rights Education Initiative. If we are to truly champion human rights as an organization, we believe we must play an active role in sharing the skills and resources needed to empower human rights advocacy globally.
Solidarity across generations is key to a more inclusive future, so we have developed programming for all ages and backgrounds. This includes our virtual Human Rights Education course, which provides a framework for understanding systemic discrimination, and training on the practical tools that can be leveraged for human rights advocacy work.
