Exploration of Art & Discrimination

Artivist gallery exhibition and event

Program Area:

Artivism

Location:

New York, New York

Bringing together artists with a shared passion for ending structural discrimination in all its forms.

In 2012, we hosted 10 artists at Space on White in New York with over 100 people in attendance. Utilizing the universal language of art, artists from all over the country submitted art to ICAAD on themes of discrimination: women’s rights, minority rights, disability rights, and religious freedoms. While some say a picture is worth a thousand words, art can express a depth of emotion that is at times deeper than what can be said, in a language that all humanity can understand. See more photos of the art and the event here.

Artist Spotlight: Vishavjit Singh

As a survivor of 1984 genocidal killings of Sikhs in India, Vishavjit’s cartoons focus on the latest political, social, economic and religious developments within the Sikh community around the world. His art can be explored on his website, www.Sikhtoons.com.
