Take the next Advocacy Essentials course and learn to navigate power, conflict, and change without losing yourself or your people.

The next Advocacy Essentials course is now open for enrollment and will start on July 9th. While it’s our “foundations” course, re:flexing is critical practice for any high impact change maker. We begin with the question:

What does it take to sustain justice work in a world that keeps shifting?

Foundations: re:flexing is a 5-week, online course that trains the fundamental skills of reflection and relationship that are needed to do the work of justice well, and to do it sustainably. It’s about how we build trust, navigate conflict, and practice accountability in our organising, our communities, and our own lives.

This is a space to ask better questions, honour discomfort, and sharpen our lens on how change really happens without abandoning ourselves or each other.

Who is this course for?

This course is for activists, artists, and professionals working in mission-driven organisations around the world.

It’s also for anyone who is passionate about justice and equity, and who wants to show up with more honesty and care. You might be feeling burdened by the weight of the work, or looking for ways to stay grounded and aligned as you navigate complexity.

Whether you’ve been in the work for decades or are just finding your place within it, this course offers space to reflect, connect, and practice the skills that sustain movements.

You’ll leave with:

  • A journaling practice that changes how you see yourself and your patterns in your work, relationships, and daily life.
  • A quilt of your own making that will become both a reflection and a guide. It will serve as a reminder of who you are and your commitment to a bigger vision
  • Stronger skills for navigating tension and complexity
  • A clearer sense of how systems like racism, colonialism, capitalism, and patriarchy shape what’s possible, and how you can respond with more clarity and care
  • Real relationships with people around the world who are also doing the hard, beautiful work of shaping change
  • A renewed sense of direction and grounding in why justice matters to you and how you want to be part of it, long-term

About the Advocacy Essentials Certificate Program

At ICAAD, we’ve spent over a decade working alongside frontline advocates around the world. What we’ve learned is that most powerful change makers are grounded, strategic, connected in webs of solidarity, and never stop learning. That’s why we created the Advocacy Essentials Certificate.

This program is designed for activists, artists, and professionals working across civil society, social enterprise, and mission-driven spaces. Whether you’re new to advocacy or have years of experience, this is a place to sharpen your skills, deepen your strategy, and build relationships with others doing bold, purposeful work.

You can take the full certificate across four online courses, or choose just the topics that speak to you most.
