ICAAD submitted this report ahead of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) General Discussion on Gender Stereotypes.

This General Discussion is a part of developing a new General Recommendation that will provide more concrete guidance to member states on gender stereotyping. This submission contributes legal context, case studies, and an analysis of gender stereotyping within the justice system. It highlights specific opportunities for governments to ensure their justice systems are actively delegitimizing gender stereotypes, particularly in cases involving gender-based violence (GBV).
